Uasin Gishu County Assembly has passed a motion moved by Leader of Majority Hon Josphat Lowoi stopping planned purchase of national bank building by Uasin Gishu County Government at a cost of Kshs. 568 million. The Assembly directed the Executive Arm of Government to instead use kshs. 300 million already budgeted for to construct modern offices in existing county land. Hon Hosea Korir Deputy Speaker while seconding the motion said there are legal issues on ownership of national building land which could put public money at risk. Hon Gilbert Tenai supported the motion saying that the CEC Lands while defending the planned purchase at the assembly before the committee of the whole house were not sure about the figures yet the Assembly has to rely on accurate figures. The assembly asked controller of budget not to release any payment for the same building. Hon Speaker David Kiplagat who presided over the session said his office will move with speed to ensure that resolution of the house is adhered to.
