Uasin Gishu County CECM for finance today read his budget estimates for FY 2019/2020 before Uasin Gishu County Assembly. The CECM finance was welcomed to read the budget by Hon Speaker David Kiplagat after taking the house through the standing orders on budget reading.
CECM Ruto said his 2019/2020 budget is balanced budget since he set a realistic target of raising ksh 900 million from local revenues. He said the budget will be ksh 6.2 billion as equitable share from Commission of Revenue allocation and ksh 1.4 billion from donors making a total of ksh 8.5 billion. In addition the county has ksh 2.9 billion carried forward from previous financial year. The lion share of the budget will go to health. Department of Devolution and Administration will also get substantial allocation of Kshs. 85 million for completion of Sub-county offices in Kapseret, Ainabkoi and Moiben. Among the winners is education sector with Kshs. 108 million set aside for building of ECDE centers. Kshs. 116 million has been allocated for Vocational Training Centers in order support skill development for the youth and further Kshs. 127million for equipping the VTCs and additional Kshs. 40 million towards TVET scholarship programme. Kshs. 90 million was allocated for bursaries.
In sports, Kshs. 60 million has been set aside for construction of Chakaiya high altitude training grounds and further Kshs. 14 million for upgrading of Sub- county play grounds. The Uasin Gishu County Appropriation bill 2019/2020 was read for the first time before the Speaker adjourned the session.
