Uasin Gishu County Assembly has become the first Assembly in Kenya to pass Punguza Mzigo bill fronted by Third Way Alliance. Hon. Patrick Bundotich while moving the motion on the report on Punguza Mzigo from the Committee on Delegated Legislation which he chairs said that the committee agreed with Dr. Ekuru Aukot citing that the country is over represented compared with other democracies. Hon. Gilbert Tenai – MCA Cheptiret Kipchamo says every ward in Kenya stands to get over ksh 100 million after Punguza Mzigo which will spur development across the country. Hon Francis Muya –MCA Langas supported the motion saying leadership is a calling and professionals should not be quitting important jobs looking for better pay in Politics . Hon David Sing’oei – Chief Whip supported the motion saying that it is the wishes of the people of Ng’enyilel ward which he represents. Hon Dr Catherine Barmao –Nominated MCA was the only member who opposed the bill. Hon Speaker David Kiplagat presided over the house and said that he will issue a certificate and forward the resolutions of the house to Senate and National Assembly speakers as required by Law.
